This folk art shows a scene of men in their home in the capital city of Yerevan. The three-dimensional scene uses different materials: the men and game table are clay; they sit on a woven rug; twigs, gravel and sand decorate the house. The men are shown playing nardi, a game played with similarly to the game of backgammon.

Mt Ararat is shown in the background. In Armenian mythology, Mt. Ararat is the home of the Gods. In Judeo-Christian lore, Mt. Ararat is the resting place of Noah's ark after the great flood. In the modern-era, Ararat symbolizes the Armenian national identity, although the mountain falls within the current borders of Turkey. Ararat dominates the skyline of Armenia's capital, Yerevan. Ararat is the national symbol of the Republic of Armenia, being featured in the center of its coat of arms.
