Tajik Display Doll
Collection: Everyday Connections
This doll is wearing traditional Tajik clothing. Traditional Tajikistan women’s clothing consists of a dress, trousers, robe and a headdress. The outfit reveals the wearer’s clan, tribe, and other local identity in every particular: the form of the headdress, the way of wearing it, the color of clothing, and decorative details.
Tajik dresses, called "kurta," are long with embroidered, flared sleeves. The shape of the collar varies with the marital status of the woman. Under the dress, women wear wide trousers, called "lozimi," or "poijoma."
Tajik women usually wear one of three variations of headdress: a turban, a hat or a lachak shawl, all three of which can be worn either separately or at the same time. Sometimes young girls also wear skullcaps.
