Bahamian Display Doll

This display doll comes from the Bahamas, as indicated from her hat with the capital city, Nassau, printed on it. This type of doll, with a plastic body dressed in clothing, was manufactured in the 1960s. She wears traditional clothing common to the Caribbean islands, with a full cotton skirt, a tube top and a woven hat.

The hat is woven of palmetto fronds, using a technique passed down from mother to daughter.
