This male doll is dressed in a traditional Malay costume, called "baju melayu". In its formal form, baju melayu is the national costume of Malaysia. Melayu is the endonym for Malay peoples.
Baju refers to a form of shirt with four side panels. "Seluar," a form of pants, are traditionally wide at the waist and narrow at the ankle. The shirt and pants are matched with a hand woven "songket sarong". Traditional hats like this are known as "songkok."
